~NEW VID & PICS~ 5 Months Post-Op

I cannot believe it's been 5 months since I had the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy...craziness! I feel fantastic and catch myself smiling for no apparent reason. It's the littlest of things that I really seems to notice. Getting dressed everyday is so much fun and it never used to be, especially if I broke out a sweat while doing so. This has been a crazy roller-coaster journey that I Would not trade for anything!!

Watch the update video!!

I lost 2lbs this past week which brings my grand total down to 94lbs!!!! WOW!! I am still shocked by that number!

Thanks for the support!

~New Video~ 5 Week Post-Op

I had my 5 week post-op appointment today and it went very well. She said I am doing very well and she was very pleased with my food/liquid journals, my weight loss and my overall progress. She is so nice and before I knew it, an hour had passed by. I have some different vitamins I am going to go buy and I am so happy that I get to take my meds "normally" now without having to crush, open, etc... them. YAY!! That'll cut down on so much time, especially in the morning! I am off all restrictions and can eat whatever (wisely), meet with a personal trainer, drink more frequently than every 15 mins, etc...
I am really excited to be in this phase! I meet with her again in July for my 3 month check.

HERE is the link to my latest video!

Below are pictures from today (5 weeks out).

~New Video~ 3 Week Post-Op Update

Hey there! Well, today marks 3 weeks since I had VSG surgery and is the day I get to begin pureed foods!!! The past month on a liquid diet has been tough, but I survived! I had my first pureed food for dinner and it included: 2T of refried beans with a little cheese melted on top along with 1T of green beans and it was all delicious!!!
I had a 7 pound weight loss this past week which is exciting. My incisions are healing up nicely and you can barely see them at this point.
Nothing else new really to report. It was a pretty smooth week. Below is a link to my latest update video which includes a lot of info.

Thank you all for the endless support that you've shown!!

~New Video~ 2 Week Post-Op Update

The past 2 weeks have been a challenge; not a challenge in terms of recovery, pain or discomfort, but more a mental challenge. Maybe it's because I have been on a liquid only diet for the past 3 weeks and have 1 more week to go with it, but I crave eating and CHEWING!! There are so many things I crave. I know it has a lot to do with head hunger, but I know that some of it is authentic hunger. I guess that's the purpose of WLS; you crave, you take 3 bites and you're satisfied! Bonus!
They really mean it when you're going through all the pre-op things and they tell you to be mentally prepared for the "hunger" afterward. I know (and have been told) that it gets easier once you are putting actual food into your body, which makes sense. I know that this is the toughest challenge post-op and that I will get through it and am already loving the results thus far.

While shopping today, I decided to try on an XL (it's been a while since I have even looked at an XL) tank top HEHE  I actually thought I looked pretty good, but I think another 10-15 pounds and I will be ready to rock one of those! All in due time.

I was going through some old medical records this past weekend and could track my weight from the present back to 2001. I am 4 pounds lighter than I was then and that made me smile. I remember being comfortable with my weight then.

Day #3 Post-op

Hey there, everyone!!!

Sorry I did not update you sooner, but I didn't know how down and out I would actually feel until after my surgery. So, here's a quick update on the past 3 days - On Tues 4/22 I had my VSG surgery. That day was pretty standard and basic, I think. It all went as planned and I was up in my room in no time. I was pretty groggy and tired all day and pretty much felt like I was hit by a truck! I slept horribly, if it all, in the hospital. The beds are so uncomfortable and I was so uncomfortable from gas/air in my abdomen. It was horrible!! I could not find a position to lay in where I would get any relief from the pressure from the gas. The pressure went all the way from my abdomen all the way up and into my shoulders. Not fun! I think I probably slept a total of about 20-30 mins that first night. The day after surgery, was a tiny bit better in terms of the air pressure. I could tell that some of it had moved and disappeared, but it was still very existent. I was so tired and I could not wait to get home and sleep in my own bed. I got to go home at about 5:30 pm that evening...I was happy to get home to my pets and my bed! I went to bed fairly early and slept so much better than the night I was in the hospital. I felt like a million bucks when I got up the first morning after being home. Since I've been home, it's pretty much been dedicated to me walking and getting in as many fluids as possible.

The gas/air pressure has pretty much gone away and I am not in really any pain. I have had this annoying feeling in my tummy that I can only describe as a rumbling, grumbling, gnawing feeling. It almost feels like severe hunger pains which is tricking me into thinking I am starved. I spoke to my doc yesterday and was told to get some Mylanta and mint tea. I got both and neither seemed to do the trick. I am actually getting ready to call the doc back per their request, to check up on how I feel. We will see if they have another alternative for me to try.

I have my 1 week post-op this upcoming Tuesday (4/29). I get to start protein shakes tomorrow, which I am pretty excited for!

Thank you for taking this journey with me!
